Abstract
This analysis sheds light on the private equity industry in an emerging market, Mexico during its initial years. The article also focuses on the different strategies followed by private equity fund managers investing in Mexico, as a preliminary explanation of performance of the industry. Empirical evidence from 96 private equity funds and 326 transactions is used as supporting evidence. The lack of leverage for private equity investments in Mexico seems to be one of the industry's leading inhibitors.
