Abstract
Mexico is carefully reviewed in this article as a possible focus for private equity investing, both to buy out existing businesses and as venture capital for start-up or early-stage businesses. This article looks at all major aspects of an investment in Mexico, such as: recent economic history; the judicial framework; enforcement of the rule of law; -corruption; existence of accounting standards; concentration of ownership; role of commercial banks; the stock exchange; and the role of business groups. A forecast of the equity market is discussed along with highlights of Mexico's financial history.
