With buying power estimated at well over $200 billion, and expected to approach $520 billion by 2020, this is a sector with unique characteristics and tremendous potential that deserves special consideration. Companies with a clearly Hispanic focus can thrive within a community that takes pride in its distinct cultural heritage, but a dearth of start-up funding makes the task of launching such an enterprise daunting. The authors discuss the need for Latino-focused early-stage venture capital and propose that a dedicated "Latino incubato"may provide the best solution.
