Mooney YR 2002 UL https://pm-research.com/content/5/3/18.abstract AB Top-tier management consulting firms such as McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, and Booz-Allen & Hamilton have become involved in alliances with other powerhouse firms, such as Lehman Brothers, Goldman Sachs, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts. The concept is that multi-partner alliances can provide services to high-potential start-up firms more effectively than those requiring each firm to select service providers independently. This article reviews the services available from these alliances and compares them to those provided by a venture capital company. A general discussion of the probable success and failure of these ventures is provided, along with details relating to four example firms.
