AB Advances in telecommunications and information technology are outpacing the average user's ability to fully understand much of the hype, but that isn't stopping the flood of private capital into the highly competitive digital market place. This article visits a number of the big-money players to discover the why's and how's of infomedia investing. Rapid expansion and change may have left the casual observer overwhelmed by perplexing terminology, and here we offer a tour of today's industry standards and breaking technology for global communication. Hardwire, cellular, broadband, satellite: all modalities are active players as the demand for both data and voice transmission becomes louder and more insistent throughout the world.
