Nevertheless, numerous factors point to the ascendancy of upstarts in this domain, and favorable dynamics in the healthcare and biotech industries suggest that this may be an auspicious time for investors to get in on the ground floor. While information technology and Internet applications have thrived, their intersection with healthcare is only now beginning to blossom. Firms and funds that have hitherto ignored healthcare may be well-advised to take note of the opportunities emerging.
