AB IPO frenzy has abated, for now; but in the aftermath of the explosive late 1990s it is instructive to examine factors contributing to the successes of companies maturing in that era. Venture capitalist participation on boards of directors generally has some correlation with a company's stage of development, but can a company's age serve as a predictor of its board's composition? This article examines the interrelated factors of VC participation on boards, as well as maturity and age of companies at IPO, across two distinctly different eras of IPO activity.
